Bram Stadhouders

Bram Stadhouders was born into a musical family in 1987 in Tilburg, the Netherlands. His father being a guitar teacher and his mother a classical piano teacher, he was drowned into music since birth. He got classical guitar lessons from his dad when he became 6 years old. He received 2 classical guitar awards when he was 8 and 9.

As a kid he started playing in a rockband and a jazzband, touring through the Netherlands in the biggest venues and events, being on TV, and winning important Dutch competitions. He also played with great dutch jazz musicians like Harmen Fraanje and Hein van de Geyn.

Besides making his own solo-albums, these days he's playing mostly improvised ambient-jazz music with drummer Onno Govaert, using a guitar synthesizer and laptop. Bram releases his albums on his own label Brammetje Records, which has received great reviews. They have gained national recognition in their homecountry Netherlands. In 2008 they were chosen to be on the “Young VIP tour,” the most important tour for upcoming improvising musicians. Bram has also been active with combinations with dance, sound-art and video, while studying composition at the Utrecht Music Technology school.

It is a concept as unexpected as it is original, but three albums into its fascinating journey, the trio co-founded by drummer Joost Lijbaart, guitarist Bram Stadhouders and Rambags is synonymous with experimentation. Its eponymous debut album (Challenge Records, 2017), which embraced silence as another ...

Meet Bram Stadhouders: Bram was born on 23 January 1987 (when it was freezing -18°C outside) in the city of Tilburg, which lies in Europe, The Netherlands, in the mystical, mysterious, legendary province called Noord-Brabant (some pictures of this area are in the pictures page). When he was zero years old, he already listened to jazz and classical music (thanks to his father who is guitar teacher and his mother who is piano teacher), and it has been ...
