Brenda Countz

This Washington, D.C. native who is currently based in Los Angeles, California began her music career in the community church. For many years she enjoyed singing while balancing raising a family, a demanding career as a Congressional reporter and her volunteer work. In the year 2000, at the suggestion of international jazz vocalist Ronnie Wells, she auditioned for and was chosen to perform in the East Coast Jazz Festival. The overwhelming positive response to that performance set in motion a whole new career as a performing vocalist. Since that time she has performed on the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage and numerous jazz venues and private events on both the East and West coasts. Her performances are filled with upbeat and soulful tunes by such greats as George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Duke Ellington and Carlos Jobim, to name a few. In June 2014, she released her first album, Joyful Jazz, backed by the Llew Matthews Quartet. She has extraordinary vocal range and versatility combined with a warm and powerful stage presence. Whether she's singing a soulful ballad with a trio or swinging with a big band, her audiences respond and connect with her in a delightful way.
