Carter Calvert

Carter Calvert has been touring the globe performing to sold-out audiences, garnering critical acclaim for her extraordinary talent. She has performed as a headliner internationally in South Africa, Greece, Bermuda, Croatia and Italy. Her debut recording Carter Calvert and the Roger Cohen Trio enjoyed Top 15 placement on the American jazz charts, peaking at #13 overall, right above Paul McCartney. An ever-evolving artist, Calvert’s latest project is a collaboration with two household names in jazz: Grammy® award-winning Ulysses Owens, Jr. (Producer/Drums) and Grammy® award-winning Laurence Hobgood (Arranger/Piano), renowned for their imagination and artistry. The end result is a collection of hits originally made famous by iconic male artists, re-imagined and sung from a woman’s point of view. It’s A Man’s World gives Calvert a vehicle to soar, and soar she does.

Carter Calvert comes from a varied background of multi-principals, which is what makes this dynamic artist much more than your garden variety singer; she is a seasoned live performer and a dynamo in the recording setting. Calvert is a true vocalist, able to traverse any genre with skill and execution, but her heart and soul resides with jazz. Calvert has also enjoyed critical acclaim performing the title role in Always...Patsy Cline, starring opposite Emmy® award-winning actress Sally Struthers. She has captivated audiences across the United States recreating the music of this beloved American icon. Often reviewed for her six-star smoldering voice, Calvert is best known for originating her role in the Tony®-nominated Broadway musical It Ain’t Nothin’ But The Blues, alongside Grammy® winning jazz vocalist Gregory Porter. Calvert has also enjoyed opening for iconic performers including: Marilyn McCoo, Chubby Checker and The Temptations.

Her television credits include: The David Letterman Show and The Today Show. She’s been featured in numerous national television and radio commercials including: Wendy’s, MTV and Charles Schwab, and served recently as ‘the voice’ of Kindle Fire for Amazon. While still in high school, Downbeat Magazine named Carter “Best Female Jazz Vocalist” and Starsong Records has hailed her as “Best Female Vocalist of the Year.” Calvert offers the listener a deep, full-toned sound, a mighty diapason that lingers in your heart, long after the last notes have rung. Hold on; this will be a compelling ride.
