Corey Swinderman

Corey Swinderman Bio Born Sept. 26, 1956. Dover High School. Diploma; 1975. U.S. Navy-1975-1987 Attended U.S. Navy School of Music Completing and graduating from the Basic, Intermediate and Advanced Courses. Official U.S. Navy Show Band 26 piece show group. Lead trumpet, musical arranger /composer and assistant show director. Toured in more than 30 countries throughout South America and Europe performing public shows as well as honors and dinner dance music for Presidents, mayors and various local dignitaries. While in the U.S. Navy, I was honored to play with Doc Severinsen and arranged music for a show headlined by Bob Hope. Returning stateside, while stationed in Chicago, Illinois, and San Diego California I continued to excel in the U.S. Navy Band as the lead trumpet, musical arranger and composer, show producer, public affairs director and conductor for various official ceremonies. In addition to touring throughout the U.S., the band opened for trumpet legend Maynard Ferguson and played back up for Manhattan Transfer. I was presented the Navy Achievement Medal for writing and performing a special anti drug show which toured Navy Basses throughout the United States. Performed official Honors for President Regan. During this time I attended College at night and earned a B.F.A. in Musical Arranging and Composition from St. Leo’s University of Florida (Exchange program offered at US Navy SOM), Film Scoring and Composition from Berklee (correspondence course) and Studio Sound and Recording techniques from Peavey Electronics. Received numerous citations and awards from US Navy. Achieved Rank of Musician First Class Petty Officer and was selected for Rank of Chief Petty Officer. After 12 years in the U.S. Navy, I pursued a career in film and television in Hollywood. I was employed as a studio musician with Paramount and Columbia Studios recording background music for movies and television shows, including Simon and Simon, Magnum PI and Mac-Gyver. Was Lead Player with the Tommy Paulson Big Band which played throughout Los Angeles. And played Lead in several Pit Orchestras for local Musical production of West Side Story. After 5 years I decided I wanted more out of life than just my carrier. Returning home for a visit to decide the next phase of my life, I met my wonderful wife to be Ann and decided to create a life back here in Dover. Our son Kyle is also a Trumpet player and has recently auditioned and was accepted to attend Capital University as a Music Education/Performance Major.
