Dan DeSandro

Born: October 10, 1955 Bio: Pianist Dan DeSandro is career musician with several decades of performance to his credit. A natural talent, Dan began playing at the age of 5 and studied privately into his teens. He started performing regularly while living in the Panama Canal Zone in the late 60's before moving to the USA in the mid- 70’s. Career moves brought him to South Louisiana where he has continued to present his world view of musical influence.

From 1980 on Dan has performed regularly as a solo pianist or with his Trio at clubs, restaurants, festivals, corporate and private events throughout the Southeast.

As a soloist Mr. DeSandro presents a broad range of musical styles and influences from Classical, Jazz, Latin, and Rhythm and Blues. The Trio performs an eclectic mix of modern jazz, but leans more towards an innovative interpretation of Latin jazz. On any given evening you may hear unique presentations of music from Brazil, Cuba, Panama, Argentina, and songs from great American composers like Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, or Cole Porter ” Just a few examples of decades of musical influence.

The underlying theme of the music is how the group creates a full spectrum of sound and rhythm with a minimal number of instruments. The goal of the group is to let the song first be presented as a multiple voiced arrangement, and then let the improvisational talents be recognized as the song progresses in form and communication between the instruments and the musicians.

The Trio exercises the talents of several of Acadiana’s talented musicians. Their work in Cajun, Zydeco, R & B, and other genre make for a unique blend of ingredients in this instrumental group.
