David Lamm

I was born in 1978. I started playing the guitar at the age of twelve, at which time I was into all sorts of bluesy stuff, from B.B.King to Jimi Hendrix. During my highscool years I became interested in jazz and a few years later I started my studies with Gyula Babos at the Kőbánya Music Studio. Between 1999 and 2004 I was a pupil of the Ferenc Liszt Music Academy. After finishing my studies I worked for the Hungarian National Theatre, wrote tunes for several film and dance projects and played with a number of musicians in Budapest. I have worked with the reggae group Koala, blues band Spo-Dee-O-Dee, ethno-based groove gang HaGesher, trip-hop project Sadant. Played the music of Jimi Hendrix with Freedom Haze, jewish music with Shkayach and jazz with several groups. In the past few years I have been playing and recording with the Elemér Balázs Group (BEG) (Best Of, 2006, Early Music feat. Nuria Rial, 2007., Memories, 2009.), Agi Szalóki (Hallgató, 2006.- which won the "Jazz Record Of The Year" prize), Zoltán Csanyi and Béla Lattmann (new cd appearing in a couple of weeks) and formed the Dávid Lamm Trio, with which we are mostly playing my own compostions (about to record our first cd) and U'rette, playing a combination of funk, jazz and hip-hop. In 2008., I have been awarded the Ablakos Lakatos Dezső scholarship for jazz-performers. My 1st solo cd entitled "1st the 1 (...then the other)" will be out in November.
