Regarded by fellow jazz singers as a dynamic improviser who interprets a lyric with sincerity and a beautiful sense of style, Deadra has a unique, crystal-clear voice. This New York City-based vocalist has lived and performed all over the world, from Los Angeles to the Midwest and Ecuador to Amsterdam. Deadra is an active performer, leading her own jazz quartet which mixes traditional jazz elements with beautiful, original melodies. Her debut album, Wherever I Go can be heard on jazz radio stations as far away as Indonesia and Australia. Credentials/Background:
Deadra Hart has been a professional voice and piano teacher for over ten years. She is a classically trained jazz singer who is well versed in many genres of music. Topics covered in lessons can include technique, style, repertoire, music theory, composition, aural skills, improvisation and performance. Deadra's teaching style caters to the needs of the individual student and focuses on creating a nurturing, fun environment in which to learn and grow musically. Deadra teaches lessons to students ages 4 to adult. Private lessons are available at studios in Manhattan, or in a student's home. Education: B.M. in Jazz Vocal Performance from the University of North Texas and M.A. in Jazz Performance from the City University of New York. Deadra currently teaches at the following institutions: The 92nd Street Y (New York, NY), The Nightingale-Bamford School (New York, NY), The Jazz Project (New York, NY).
