Alessandro Sgobbio: Piano Music 2

Read "Piano Music 2" reviewed by Neri Pollastri

Alessandro Sgobbio: Piano 2

Read "Piano 2" reviewed by Dan McClenaghan

Italian pianist Alessandro Sgobbio strikes a pensive pose on the cover of his solo album Piano 2, presenting an introductory visual of his art. The pianist's photo portrait on his previous 2022 AMP Music & Recording release Piano (review here) did the same--a serious expression conveying an inward mood, indicating a measured and reflective approach to the instrument. On both recordings, that is what we get. The difference: Piano Music is piano only; Piano 2 features the addition of live ...

Alessandro Sgobbio: Piano Music

Read "Piano Music" reviewed by Neri Pollastri

Alessandro Sgobbio: Piano Music

Read "Piano Music" reviewed by Dan McClenaghan

We ask our artists to give us something of themselves. The solo piano format is a superior way to do this--the musican alone at the piano, no collaboration; and Italian composer/pianist Alessandro Sgobbio presents the essence of his being with his first solo recording, Piano Music. The music is a diary of Sgobbio's experiences and influences--his parents and his mentor, Atma Mater, among other things. The artistry presented gives us a look into the artist's soul, his playing ...

Mauro Gargano: Feed

Read "Feed" reviewed by Neri Pollastri

Hilmar Jensson: Transparence

Read "Transparence" reviewed by Mike Jurkovic

Given that not one of the eight tracks definingTransparence, the darkly compelling debut from Norway's Hitra, runs longer than six minutes, the quartet covers a lot of ground. Like a ticket out of isolation, Transparence transports your homebound head to the grey expanse of Northern Atlantic skies. Billowing by design, their clouds of music make you feel like you're floating above rain shadows and fjords. Bonding together at Oslo's Norwegian Academy of Music, Hitra pairs Italian pianist Alessandro ...

Alessandro Sgobbio: la musica come viaggio verso sé stessi

Read "Alessandro Sgobbio: la musica come viaggio verso sé stessi" reviewed by Emmanuel Di Tommaso

Alessandro Sgobbio Releases 'Piano Music 2' - An Intimate Collection Of Dedications For Piano And Live Electronics

Alessandro Sgobbio Releases 'Piano Music 2' - An Intimate Collection Of Dedications For Piano And Live Electronics

Source: Alessandro Sgobbio

Piano Music 2 (2023) is Alessandro Sgobbio’s follow-up to his acclaimed Piano Music (2022). The Italian pianist and composer presents nine new intimate compositions, each of them dedicated to a person, place or topic that have a special meaning and importance to him. The album is a meditative sound experience that invites the listeners to actively reconnect with the powerful meanings of natural and spiritual elements (“Modular Circles”, “The River”, “Tula”, ”Einhausung”), finding inspirations from special historical episodes of cities ...

A perfect fusion of contemporary acidifications and North-European melodic masses. Alceste Ayroldi (Musica Jazz Magazine – IT) This is music with a great sense of musicality and sophistication. Ettore Garzia (Percorsi Musicali —IT) "Great record. Wonderful music with a very diverse repertoire, played flawlessly. You can hear the spirit and mutual respect the three musicians have for each other and the music. These guys have a history to be sure ." Dave Liebman ("These Human Beings" liner notes - 2015) “Melodies that hit all the angles, accentuating crispness over flow, which adds to the intrigue and a compulsion to see where they go, even if there isn’t a lot of melodic development in the process, much how a car chase can be thrilling even if it never leaves a small area of city blocks
