Bill Steck

Bill Steck has a broad background as a professional musician, but maintains a primary focus on jazz piano. Bill has played on many circuits throughout his forty-year career as a pianist, and most recently has been playing nightclubs and private events in the South Bay area of Southern California.

Mr. Steck has played Vegas, Reno, Tahoe, and Miami with the Judy Bell Show, after which he played for cruise ships of the P & O Cruise Line traveling from South America to Alaska. He has also been on the R&B circuit with the Platters, and the Sal Soul Orchestra. He spent time backing up Lacy J. Dalton on the country circuit and has also appeared with her on the David Letterman Show, Chicago Sound Stage, and Austin City Limits television shows.

Bill has also performed with the Long Beach Symphony Orchestra from time to time. He was the house pianist for the Jazz Safari and Birdland West jazz clubs, both in Long Beach.

Bill recently completed his seventh year as pianist with the “Swing of Things” 40’s dance band at the Sky Room Restaurant, a five-star establishment atop the Breakers Hotel in Long Beach. Other current engagements include La Creperie Restaurant, the Da Vinci Restaurant, both of which are in Long Beach, the Gaucho Grill in Brea, and the Palos Verdes Country Club among others.

Bill continues to pursue an active performing and recording career, simultaneously being employed full-time as choral accompanist at Long Beach Polytechnic High School. He is truly an invaluable asset for the choral department at Poly, contributing his veteran expertise, extensive musical knowledge, contacts within the music industry, and above all, his dedication to the students.

Bill’s vision is to interpret sophisticated music with his unique jazz stylings, and personalize each performance with integrity. He is a welcome addition to any signature event.
