Bruce Wallace
Bruce was born in Pittsburgh, studied trombone privately in high school, and eventually majored in trombone and minored in bass at Duquesne University School of Music. But soon his love of the bass and his overwhelming propensity for jazz won out. From then on he played upright bass, electric bass, and tuba professionally. Because of Bruce’s skill at reading, his rote knowledge of a vast number of tunes, his feel for all styles, and his improvisational prowess, he has been able to play for and accompany a wide variety of artists and orchestras

Bassist Bruce Wallace opened the South County Jazz Club's 2014-15 concert season Friday afternoon with a top-notch trio whose members had never worked together in this personnel grouping. It featured guitarist Larry Camp and drummer Marty Morell, best known in jazz circles for his seven-year stint in pianist Bill Evans' trio from 1968 to 1975.
