Dario Chiazzolino

Born on February 8, 1985, in Turin, Dario Chiazzolino is an Italian guitarist and composer - one of the greatest exponents in the modern jazz scene. He has been awarded many times as the best guitarist and best artist according to specialized magazines and international competitions such as Umbria Jazz Festival, Italian Jazz Magazine, GuitarList Magazine, Top Jazz Guitar Contest, D-Mag, Jazz Guitar Magazine, and Suono Magazine. Dario is a guest of prestigious jazz festivals in Europe and the United States and regularly appears in the world's most famous jazz clubs. He began his career as a musician very early, at the tender age of fourteen, when he received his first professional engagement.

Dario works as an electric guitarist in blues-rock formations in a very early phase of his career, collaborating with Italian artists. During his high school years, he met jazz thanks to Charlie Parker, a historic American saxophonist, and the jazz and be-bop language's backbone. From that moment, he fell in love with jazz and improvisation to the point of becoming in a few years a new prodigy of the Italian jazz guitar. Dario, just twenty years old, collaborates with jazz musicians like Flavio Boltro and Furio Di Castri and begins to collect a rich and prestigious discography both as a leader and as a sideman. He records his guitars for the compilation made in Switzerland - Six Strings - in 2008, 2009, and 2010. He records with Furio di Castri's Torino Jazz Lab, together with Bruno Tommaso and Javier Girotto. In 2010 he took part in an international Latin jazz project by releasing the album “Proposition” together with the Cuban bassist Dany Noel Martinez, the drummer Horacio “El Negro” Hernandez, the pianists Ivan Bridon and Ivan Lewis, the trumpeter Carlos Sanduy, the star international Concha Buika and together with other important icons of the Latin world such as Ramón Porrina, Jerry Gonzáles, Inoidel González, Javier Masso “Caramelo”, Fernando Favier, Diego Guerrero, Ivette Falcón Urgate, Daniel Martínez Miranda. In the same year, he recorded an album with the modern jazz project Kabel, collaborating with the Italian trumpeter Giovanni Falzone.

In 2011 he collaborated on bassist Dany Noel's project entitled Tinta Unida. In 2012 - together with the Italian guitarist/bassist Nico Di Battista - he produced a unique collection of songs from the Italian tradition, revisited in a jazz style. The project is entitled Rewriting Songs, whose meaning is precisely to reinterpret, rewrite, and reinvent the themes, melodies, and harmonies of those famous catchphrases. Among the songs chosen to appear in the album: W la mamma, Scrivimi, Estate, Parlami D'Amore Mariù, La Bambola, Generale, Per un'Ora d'Amore, and Una Settimana e un Giorno.
