Hello! My name is Don Price. I am a Jazz Guitarist who has taught and played music for over 50 years. My current musical incarnation has been (since 2010) an ensemble called Jazz Gitan [pronounced j'tawn]. The music of Jazz Gitan is the swinging jazz of the 30s and 40s, plus a cross-section of songs from the modern Gypsy Jazz repertoire together with my original compositions. It includes latin, blues, swing, and pop styles combined to create a unique foot tapping and high energy Parisian influenced experience.
Awards
* Recommended Teachers Listing for University of Southern California *Hank Garland award * #1 Gypsy Jazz Artist in local CA area
Gear
I have two types of gear. For Gypsy Swing or Jazz Manouche, I use an AER60 amp with a Polak acoustic gypsy-style guitar with a built in Bigtone pickup in the bridge. I run it through a Fishman EQ/pre-amp.
For Jazz I use a George Benson model together with a Roland Stereo 60 amp. Effects pedals depend on the song if needed.
"Jazz so Hot it has to be Cool!" ~Sacramento News and Review "In addition to being great to work with, they really know their stuff. They drew the audience in with expert playing and just enough humor to bring the songs to life." Erica Taylor, Capital Public Radio "You got it man, you got it!" ~Larry Coryell "These guys trade off licks at the speed of summer heat lightning. I promise that anyone who appreciates outstanding playing will be pleased with their show(s)" Fran, Owner of Fran "Hot Jazz or Cool Jazz, Jazz Gitan have it nailed! Their performance is a must see!" ~Franc, Owner of Jericho "Nice job Don!" ~Robin Nolan

Chord Progressions 1. Learning basic chords and chord progressions will aid you in mastering songs you encounter and wish to play. 2. We apply this information to your musical interests to boast your musical skills. Solos Solos are the fun part of playing songs. Songs which capture your interest usually have an improvisational section called the "solo." It represents the part of the tune where you have the chance to have fun by engaging the intuiative side of your brain and becoming creative. We will discuss this more in depth according to your personalized lesson plan.
