His debut CD, TIME CHANGE, featured Dave Kikoski - piano, Rufus Reid - bass, Bill Stewart - drums, Scott Kreitzer - sax, et al. It charted #22 with The Gavin Report and was an R&R 60% jazz breaker.
His latest work in progress, Jacobs' Ladder, is due out soon.
Fred's musical approach: "I always want to swing, sound good, be different and creative, and show a spirit that stirs something in people... When you're improvising, some play licks, and some try to be more creative, more adventurous, and compose on the spot."

Fred Jacobs is a deft and versatile trumpeter who covers a lot of ground on Time Change. He dives right into the title track, sounding as bright and assured as Freddie Hubbard or Woody Shaw, but with verve and a smooth, fluent originality.
