Giuliana Soscia & Pino Jodice Quartet
From 1995 to 1999 she studied and deeply researched the ethnomusicology of the Italian folk tradition, gradually moving on to more complex types of music such as the tango, and completing her journey of investigation through the means of jazz contamination. In 2001 she was awarded the "Sonerfisa" trophy, the International Award of the city of Castelfidardo for the best Italian accordionist and in 2007 the Lifetime Achievement Award of Castelfidardo. In 2005 she won the prestigious "XXXV Premio Personalità Europea" (35th European Personality Award) at the Campidoglio of Rome.
From 1988 to 2008 she appeared in various radio and television programmes, as a musician and presenter on Rai 1, Rai 2 and in various Italian private networks. In 2006 she founded the group "Giuliana Soscia & Pino Jodice Quartet" with which she immediately began touring and performing in concerts.
She also performs as a soloist with the orchestras "Milano Classica" and "G.Rossini", collaborating with the conductors C. Lorenz and P.P. Ciardi, as a special guest for "Homage to Piazzolla" in collaboration with the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra directed by Tommy Smith and with the PMJO - Parco della Musica Jazz Orchestra, for Pino Jodice's jazz project "Il Viaggio Di Sindbad" (The Voyage of Sinbad) with Arabic contaminations, as well as with the Iraqi oud master Raed Khoshaba.
