Thankfully, Spaced Out is back! They are crunchier, meaner, more in-your-face and full of rage. Their energy levels are peaked. I heard bits of Lost Tribe and even the Zeuhl, Magmoid, weird-rockisms of Japan’s Happy Family all on the first track in under three minutes. The second fire-starter from an excellent Quebecois quartet. Antoine Fafard’s Spaced Out made a large impression on the contemporary fusion scene with their self-titled debut disc last year, and Eponymus II pushes further into unknown territories. There are even more Mahavishnu-worthy chops here (the tight, fast unisons on the opening track are simply jaw-dropping), and the spacey, mystical prog auras are even more compelling this time around.

Spaced Out is a powerful prog-fusion band from Montreal. Formed in '98 by bassist Antoine Fafard, the group draws influences from Steve Vai, Allan Holdsworth and Bruford, but manage to craft their own unique sound in the end. This album could be the soundtrack to a sci-fi epic not yet written. One can imagine the transports flying overhead, robots in battle, and the ambient sounds of high-tech hallways.
