Yamasaki

A genre defying blockbuster and awesome beat creating sound guru, who is forever innovative in his approach to music. Yamasaki (Tom Edwards) has enjoyed album releases with the independent labels Criminal Recordz and Just Joe as well as achieving underground acclaim and radio play across the world (including having his tracks feature on Scott Mills show on BBC Radio 1 and The Jazz Suite & Soul Travels Radio in the USA). In 2008 Yamasaki has embarked on two unique partenrships.........

As Children of a new Jazz he creates a fusion of jazz, classical and all other styes that inspire. This is a music for the person needing some mental and emotional stimulation!

Melvin is a founder member of the band illumination who were regulars on American TV's channel 20 and he also appeared in the funk brothers movie. In partnership with Yamasaki, Melvin has helped stretch the boundaries of Jazz far into the distance.

YAMASAKI & HIPERIK A unique partnership formed in mid 2007 between the jazz/ funk instrumentalist extraordinaire Yamasaki and the haunting poetic vocals of singer/songwriter Hiperik. Yamasaki and Hiperik seek to unravel the boundaries between genres. Yamasaki and Hiperik take you on a journey through joy, love, loneliness and despair and out the other side again. Drawing together their shared knowledge of music and melding funk, jazz, lounge and many other influences and sounds into a continental coffeehouse groove, as if eartha kitt had been mixed with ninja tunes and released on the Acid Jazz label. Yamasaki featuring Hiperik will leave you wanting more.

The Yamasaki sound is "steeped in the greats like Hancock, Coltrane and Gil Scott-Heron, they are also intrinsically linked to the lure of modern Jazz and Funk. It takes the sterling early nineties work of the Acid Jazz label and builds upon it yet again" (Robert McNamara, Redtrackmusic).

His music seamlessly blends jazz, soul, and big beat breaks into tracks that seriously make you want to get up and groove along with the beats. Save on that vacation to the Bahamas by simply buying a Yamasaki track, loading it into your iPod, throwing on your headphones, standing in a sandbox, and youll swear you were in the tropics.
