Don Shelden

Don Shelden, the recording artist known for bringing back the big band sound of the 1940’s with his albums “Imagination,” and “Any Swing Goes,” is the author of the book, “That’s What God Looks Like To Me.”

Shelden is the protégé of three-time Grammy Award winning composer Marion Evans, who served as arranger and conductor on his first two albums. For his third CD, Shelden used seven-time Emmy Award Winner Mike Renzi as his arranger and piano player. Shelden presents the listener with a polished vocal style, with phrasing and tonality that is often compared to that of a young Frank Sinatra.

Shelden grew up in Elmira, NY. As the oldest of thirteen children, he learned the importance of familial devotion and the value of building close relationships with loved-ones -- two themes expressed in the song “That’s What God Looks Like To Me.” As a teenager, Shelden became a high school basketball standout, playing for Southside High and Elmira College. Upon graduation, he began a successful career as an executive in the corporate life insurance industry. In 1996 he met Marion Evans and they began their now decade-long musical relationship.

Shelden is currently the president of Shelden Entertainment Group LLC. He lives in New Canaan, CT, with his wife and five children, and will soon launch his third album, a collection of ballads similar to “That’s What God Looks Like To Me.”
