After her first release for EMI: Sola Contigo (Alone with You), and her two subsequent releases for Universal Jazz Spain: “Como Agua Entre los Dedos” (Like Water Between the Fingers), and “El Mar de mi Vida” (The Sea of My Life), Eva Cortés ranks among the young and most interesting composers and performers of the jazz scene in Spanish.
“Back 2 The Source” is Eva’s personal look at the essence of what she considers to be the mainstay of her musical influence: Jazz. It is an album packed with best-known standards, classical pieces from the American Songbook, in which the Honduras-born artist uses for the first time English as the main language in one of her recordings. But not only that – after having toured Spain, France, Norway, The Netherlands, and performing several times in New York City, this album is the fruit of “the solid base provided by a band performing with the same set-up for several years now, with many hours, experiences, and miles in common … with the consistency provided by that sort of complicity which can only be achieved with ongoing and constant work”....

“What stands out in Eva Cortés is not the modernity of her phrasing but the aplomb and freshness with which she alters what some would call orthodox. Eva has attitude, strength, confidence and one can feel the class she possesses”. Luís Martín – ABC
“They say that here live shows are really worth seeing, that the girl really has something. She‟s not short either of improvisation and taste.” Javier Martínez - EL MUNDO
“Eva Cortes has a warm and natural voice that adapts with apparent ease to a style between jazz and flamenco. Best of all is that this, without doubt, is a jazz record”. E. Hojman - Cuadernos de Jazz
“Eva‟s got repertory and personality and her linguistic choices allow her to assume height and distance…” José Manuel Gómez - Revista Tiempo
“This is her second solo CD in which she composes music and writes the lyrics and, without doubt, this is good enough to become one of the most delicate and original works in Spanish vocal jazz. Skipping between the song and the Latin American rhythms, her voice, coloured by a light flamenco accent, is a display of vocal ability and her harmonies are enriched by well worked melodies, attractive but not over-wrought”. J.H. COT - Cultura Ocio Tendencias
“The singer has penned both the lyrics and the music of the majority of the songs that are best described as „latin jazz‟, well done with curves in all the right places”. Pedro Pedreiro – Shangay
“The word is that Eva Cortés is the new sensation of latin jazz, a singer in whose artistic melting pot the flavour of flamenco, Caribbean passion and the spices of Jazz all mix”. L.M. -Madrid 360
“Eva Cortés has all the ingredients that should take her reasonably far: clear signs of personality in her voice, some excellent musicians acting as her personal guard, exotic origina (born in Honduras, lives in Madrid and Paris), and a travelled life, not to mention youth and beauty…. and still there is that something special extra”. Gernot Dudda - EFE EME
