Gianluca Petrella, Pasquale Mirra: Correspondence

Read "Correspondence" reviewed by Giuseppe Segala

Nicola Conte & Gianluca Petrella: People Need People

Read "People Need People" reviewed by Chris May

For over twenty years, the Italian producer, composer and guitarist Nicola Conte has pursued a resolutely independent path in jazz and jazz-related music. The Schema label, with whom he has almost exclusively partnered since his breakthrough album, 2000's acid-jazz masterpiece Jet Sounds, is based in the fashion-centric northern city of Milan. But Conte nearly always records at Sorisso Studio in his hometown, Bari, a seaport on the heel of Italy's boot on the country's southern Adriatic coast. This off-the-beaten-track location ...

The Invisible Session: Echoes Of Africa

Read "Echoes Of Africa" reviewed by Chris May

It is surely no coincidence that the Ishtar family of labels— tagline “Modern Sounds from Italy"—is based in Milan, that most stylish and go-ahead of Italian cities. New imprint Space Echo's launch release is The Invisible Session's sophomore album, Echoes Of Africa, and it slots right into Ishtar's sophisticated aesthetic, which exists at the intersection of jazz, funk, lounge and music from Africa and the African diaspora. The ensemble's first album, The Invisible Session (2006), came out ...

The 2020 Fano Jazz by the Sea Festival ran from July 24 to 31. A “special edition" due to COVID-19 regulations, the festival was presented on two stages: the main stage in the beautiful Rocca Malatestiana and the Young Stage in the amazing Church of San Francesco. Several events were presented in the streets of Fano with Live In The City and an evening session geared for younger attendees with Cosmic Journey. This collection includes photos of Gianluca Petrella and ...

Fano Jazz By The Sea Rocca Malatestiana Fano, Italy July 24-31, 2020 In the first half of 2020, the Italian jazz scene was heavily affected by the Covid-19 pandemic that so tragically hit the country. Winter and spring festivals in Bergamo, Torino, Novara, Bolzano, Vicenza, and other cities, had to be cancelled or postponed. Luckily, the flattening of the pandemic's curve and the consequent gradual social re-opening have made it possible for ...

Fano Jazz by the Sea 2020

Read "Fano Jazz by the Sea 2020" reviewed by Libero Farnè

Fano, varie sedi 24-31.7.2020 Un festival estivo in piena regola.
