Glazz Ensemble

GLAZZ is an energetic Latin jazz inspired group from Chicago which fuses music traditions from Brazil, Cuba, Puerto Rico and Panama. Mix in a healthy dose of afro-beat, rock, funk, soul, Spanish, Romanian and Portuguese sounds and you'll hear what gives GLAZZ a truly unique patois in the jazz idiom.

Though a relative newcomer to the Chicago jazz scene, their shows have created a buzz due to the musicianship and highly entertaining performances which showcase strong interplay and dynamics featuring rich harmonic and rhythmic elements.

When attending a GLAZZ show, be sure to listen to the improvisational interaction between the musicians. This group has much fun while playing. The audience will too.

Billy Denk | Guitar | Billy's contagious enthusiasm makes each show an event. His style brings the art of guitar to the purest level by playing with subtle sensitivity and intense fire. Billy is founder of Jazz on the Square, a not-for-profit organization devoted to promoting live jazz performance and education in Illinois.

Curt Johnson | Keyboards | Trained at Berklee School of Music, Curt adds harmonic richness to the GLAZZ sound. His playing is inspired and reaches great improvisational heights. Curt has performed with several area jazz and blues luminaries.

Bryan Kyrouac | Tenor Saxophone | Bryan provides the group with soaring phrases and heartfelt sincerely with his playing. His original compositions are cerebral, yet soulful. He is one of the finest saxophonists on the scene in Chicago.

Graham Butler | Percussion | Graham infuses the group's sound with rhythms which can be complex yet soulful in the best jazz, funk and Latin traditions. His playing is inventive and energetic, always sure to please the audience.

David Reilly | Bass | Dave maintains a veritable cornucopia of jazz and funk styles anchoring the groove, slapping - even tapping virtuosic lines. His live performance and studio session work includes Duncan Fishspeakers, SRV Trio and countless rock and jazz artists.
