Heather Moran

Heather Donaldson Moran is no stranger to performing. She has been acting and singing her way out of trouble since her youth. Over the years, her repertoire has included rock, pop-style ballads, jazz and blues, show tunes, funk, R&B, and well-known standards. She was even seen in the early 1990's touring the Rockies in a Dead cover band. Or so she was told…

Heather has been performing most of her life. Born and raised in Illinois, Heather started performing musical theater at the age of 11 at the Winnetka Community House Players. She attended Interlochen School of Music summer program for voice. Heather was hand selected to study privately at 12 years of age at New Trier high school and later studied under Dr. Sarah Stedman at Northwestern University. She was in numerous productions at New Trier High school, most notably starring with rave reviews as Mary in The Drunkard (A Temperance Melodrama Musical by Barry Manilow) and Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance. She was accepted into the prestigious Opera program at Carnegie-Mellon and studied under the illustrious and warden-like tutelage of Beatrice Krebs. She also trained at the University of Colorado's Musical Theater program. While she was studying under the influential Kuniaki Hata during the day, she was a Boulder rock star at night, performing with the likes of Contraband and Midnight Kitchen.

Chicago, being her kind of town, called her back, and she finished her education at Columbia College, earning a BA in Musical Theater. She performed in over 10 shows at Columbia, notably Ruth in Wonderful Town and Amy Lee in Laundry and Bourbon.

Over the last decade, she have been performing for weddings, private and corporate functions, as well as in clubs and most notably, on the Mystic Blue and The Odyssey, the premiere dinner cruise ships at Navy Pier. As far as her acting profession, she has been involved in over 15 shows with the Factory Theater over the past six years, a storefront theater community dedicated to all new works. This is presently the company's eleventh season with over 57 shows under their belts. Some shows include Connie in White Trash Wedding and a Funeral, Penny in the Jefferson Award nominated The Vinyl Shop, and Julie in Gooooooo Speech Team! She has also performed with various other companies in the Chicago Theater community, most recently being seen as Chris Hargenson in Sweetback's sCarrie the Musical and Tayna in Lawnchair Productions' Lust'N Rust.
