Hildegunn Gjedrem

Hildegunn Gjedrem is a singer and composer living in New York. Performing her own original music with some of New York's most regarded musicians, her music is a modern mix of jazz, pop, rock and folk, creating a unique sound. The focus always being on making dynamic beautiful music for the listener.

Her frst album "the End of the beginning" was release in 2007 on SiTMoM Records, her second album "Share Your Secret" is due to be released in November of 2011.

In 2005 she was awarded “Best Jazz Vocalist” by Downbeat Magazine. Also in 2005, Hildegunn was given the G9alt Scholarship of the Arts by Sparebank 1 of Norway. In the summer of 2006 she was one of 8 singers selected from 28 countries to travel to Switzerland and compete in the Montreux Jazz Festival Vocal Competition, judged by Al Jarreau, and was further selected as one of the finalists there.

She has been featured vocalist with the Grammy Award winning One O’Clock Lab Band on several occasions, such as their 2005 tour of Poland, 2008 European tour and with legendary bassist Rufus Reid. She has performed at Festivals such as North See, Montreux Jazz Festival, International Association of Jazz Educators Conferences (IAJE) in Toronto, Long Beach, CA and in New York.
