Jason Paul Curtis

Born and raised in Texas, Jason pursued theater, film and opera in Houston, performing several productions with the Alley Theater, the Galveston Island Outdoor Musicals and the Houston Grand Opera Chorus. He was influenced by the voices of Nat King Cole and the Manhattan Transfer as well Harry Connick, Jr.

He moved to New York in 2000 to continue musical theater; however, his trajectory changed on September 11, 2001. Soon after volunteering near Ground Zero, he enlisted in the US Army. In 2002, he went through the US Army Airborne School at Fort Benning, GA, and in February, 2003, he deployed with the 82nd Airborne to Iraq.

After his enlistment ended in 2006, Jason moved his family to the Washington D.C. / metro area, where he currently lives with his beautiful wife, Aljith, and their three children, Isabella, Jaron and Odette.

In December, 2010, Jason filled in for a local three-hour set with pianist Ray Mabalot and drummer Woody Hume, and Swinglab was born. Adding Baltimore bassist, John Dahlman, they soon recorded their first video, Blue Skies, and by 2011, they were performing several nights a week at the Gaylord, National Harbor.

In November, 2012, Swinglab released their fan-funded debut album, Lovers Holiday, to critical acclaim and international airplay. The same month, they kicked off the 2012 Holiday Tours at the White House.

2013 will no doubt be another banner year planned with festivals, cabaret engagements and an album follow-up album to Lovers Holiday to include many more original songs.
