Jeanne Carroll

Carroll grew up in Mississippi, near Clarksdale , and moved with her ​​family to Memphis to Chicago , where she was soon able to establish itself in the jazz and blues club scene. During World War II, she sang to Charlie Agnew Orchestra, which later at the El Rancho in Las Vegas was committed, [2] She also appeared in the 1944 movie musical Sing a Jingle (Director: Edward C. Lilley ) on. [3] She eventually returned to Chicago, where she sang in clubs and recorded for the label Adelphi Records. [4] Throughout her career she appeared with the orchestras of Count Basie , Duke Ellington , as well as Muddy Waters , Willie Dixon , Little Brother Montgomery ( Vicksburg Blues, 1969) and Buddy Guy on. Mid-1960s, she went in the Pacific region with Franz Jackson's All-Stars for the entertainment of the troops, U.S. soldiers on tour. In the 1970s she toured with Art Hodes Jazz Four of North America and appeared with Bessie, Billie & Bo musical revue in Chicago. They lived temporarily in the 1980s in Europe and gave concerts at the Ingolstadt Jazz Festival and most recently in early 2011 in Berlin A-Trane . She worked with German jazz and blues musicians, such as the Basic Blues trio of Ignaz Netzer , Wolfgang Bernreuther or Gerd Gorke . [5] Their daughter Karen is also blues singer. [6] Carroll died two days after a gig on 7 August 2011 with her ​​daughter Karen in the Festival Blues Oan Daa Stoazze in Hamme (Belgium) a heart attack suffered.
