Jonathan Drechsler

Jonathan Drechsler is an experienced, versatile bassist with decades of experience playing jazz, blues, swing, Hawaiian, Latin (salsa, merengue, samba, bossa,cumbia, bolero, ranchero, etc.) and many other forms & styles. Originally from New York City, he studied under John Lewis, Charlie Palmieri, Don Heckman, Ed Summerlin and others at the City College of New York, and privately under Richard Davis. He was ubiquitous on the Greenwich Village blues, folk and jazz scene scene until moving West to Oregon in 1980. There he worked with Paul Delay, Curtis Salgado, NuShooz and the Esquires, as well as backing Robert Cray, Ted Curson, Joe Albany, Tom Grant, Sonny King, Nancy King, Rebecca Kilgore & others in performances all over the Pacific Northwest. Now living in Hawaii, he works & records with The Hula Honeys. He has also performed and/or recorded with George Kahumoku, Henry Allen, Owana Salazar and numerous other well-known Hawaiian & jazz artists.

Grunert 5/8 size bass, numerous electric basses, guitars & ukuleles, percussion, too many amps & cabs, lots of mics, JBL & Mackie PA gear, mics, cables & adapters, whatever it takes to do the gig.
