Kim Parker
Kim Parker is a jazz vocalist and stepdaughter of Charlie Parker. After the famous saxophonist’s death, she was raised by her mother and her stepfather, Phil Woods. She performed with her stepfather’s and Quincy Jones’s orchs. in the late 1950s; while studying drama at Hofstra Univ. (graduating in 1964), won “best vocalist” award at Villanova’s Intercollegiate Jazz Festival. She left the music scene from 1967–79; she has since recorded and toured throughout the world with various accompanists. She has also acted in a number of films, most of them in French.
