Landen Howell

I was born on July 9, 2000. I started playing saxophone when I was 12 years old. At the time, I simply played as a hobby. However, I started to develop more interest in music and the saxophone at the age of 14. By the time I was 15, I began playing for up to 8 hours day. I have become heavily influenced by John Coltrane, Albert Ayler, Pharoah Sanders, Eric Dolphy, Hamiet Bluiett, George Adams, Ornette Coleman, and several others. I want to challenge listeners, especially when that's a bit harder to come by these days. Not everyone understands music. Sure anyone can listen to music, but to truly understand the message and the story meant to be told by it is not for the simple-minded. I want people to really think.
