Lindsey Boullt

Lindsey Boullt has devoted his entire career to building excellence and community in the music world.  As a guitarist, creator, and instructor, Lindsey received international acclaim with the 2007 release of Composition, most recently earning him the Note.com|Japan|2020 ranking of #29 “best fusion guitarist in the world”. A former instructor at Musicians Institute in Los Angeles, Lindsey’s notable creations also include the ChaoticArtCircus, an avant-garde theater performance series and the Musician’s Showcase which ran from 1994-2019.

Lindsey is a Gibson Brands Artist and has been a contributing writer for Guitar Player Magazine. A renowned guitar instructor, Lindsey’s students have been accepted into major music schools including Berklee College of Music/Boston, University of North Texas, Musician’s Institute/Los Angeles, and the NYU Clive Davis Institute.

From 1998 to current day, tirelessly dedicated to the advancement of the arts in San Francisco, additionally producing artist showcases, underground bauhaus events, music/tech festivals, master artist series, recording projects, city festivals, bay area global cause performances, and the avant-garde theater ChaoticArtCircus which employed 100 Bay area performers, artisans and vendors. Simultaneously, adhering to a non-stop performance schedule as a working guitarist in the SF/Bay area, Los Angeles and beyond.

Never to study or play music as a child, Lindsey first picked up the guitar at 21 years old, purchasing his first guitar on his 21st birthday 09/25/1980, Austin Tx. Having grown up in a turbulent world with few resources, the goal was to take a few lessons, learn some chords and relax.

Bam!…a flash of musical insight inspires a furious work ethic. Propelled by a singular focus, and stark reality, Lindsey receives his music & theatre mgmt degree on scholarship in 3 1/2 years, at the University of Texas/Arlington 1984 • Dean’s List • 1st chair Jazz Orchestra • Traveling Band.

Within one year from purchasing his first guitar, Lindsey began teaching professionally, quickly building to a yearly roster of 40 students/week, while maintaining 2nd day jobs through graduation & beyond. By year three, Lindsey was working professionally in two 3-week-run local theater productions, ‘Man of La Mancha’ & ‘Best Little WHouse in Tx’, two local TV commercials (Dallas Community College), country band contest, Jazz Orchestra state tour and recorded album, Deep Ellum arts festival gigs, and a working jazz fusion band playing Brecker Brothers, Weather Report, & Steps Ahead in area venues. Married, raising a child throughout much of these years branded a sense of urgency into every moment, heightened a focus that rolled on to Los Angeles 1986.

San Francisco area guitarist and educator Lindsey Boullt has assembled an interesting support lineup on Composition that radiates an Indo-progressive rock musical plane. Former Santana percussionist Mingo Lewis and Mahavishnu Orchestra violinist Jerry Goodman assist with the ensemble's keen enactment of world music and power-lined progressive rock.
