Born: July 3, 1966
Matthew Vacanti received his education at SUNY Fredonia, Eastman School of Music, and SUNY Oswego. He holds an undergraduate degree in Music Education and a graduate degree in Education.
As a bassist, Mr. Vacanti is fluent in both classical and jazz and has had much experience in a wide variety of ensembles. In 1989 he traveled to Europe to perform with a jazz quartet called La Jambone. He has performed with the Erie Philharmonic, the Amherst Symphony and the Oswego Community Orchestra. At home, he has performed at the Syracuse Jazz Fest several times. Presently Matt composes and performs regularly in the Central New York area with his own contemporary jazz quartet called E.S.P. He also plays with the Tony Joseph Swingtet, and a big band called the Salt City Jazz Collective. Matt also runs a small independent record label called Spider Records where he records and produces SAMMY Award winning records by Frank Stagnitta, E.S.P, The Kevin Dorsey Group and others....

Credentials/BackgroundMatt has been an orchestra director at the Fulton N.Y. public school for twenty years, and earned the title of "Teacher of the Year" for his outstanding work with the kids in Fulton. He has also taught at the college level at Oswego State University as an adjunct professor and clinician.
