Born: March 30, 1970
Michel Navedo's style fuses the New Orleans tradition with which he was raised, with the music of his Puerto Rican heritage, to achieve a sound that is all his own. With such a rich musical background in which to grow up, Michel took to the trumpet at age 9 and began his quest for enlightenment and fulfillment through the art of song. Studied in Jazz, Afro Cuban, Brazllian, Classical, and Composition, Michel Navedo's focus on his instrument lies in song craft and improvisation. Look forward to an incredible Jazz release this year from Michel, New Orleans On My Mind. Bringing a heart felt and lyrical approach to some smoky originals, the album's sultry southern swing is both elegant and eloquent...

Willing to teach:
I've been playing trumpet for 30 years. I studied Jazz performance with Dr. Keith Winking at South West Texas State and Music Composition and Classical Trumpeting with Dr. Brian Post and Dr. Gil Kline at Humboldt State University in California. I also studied traditional Cuban and Latin music technique with Maestro Inaudis Paisan Mallet in Santiago, Cuba. I've played professionally for 20 years and have taught students of all ages for the last 15 years. I teach technique with an emphasis on tone production, flexibility, endurance, range, and intonation. Sight reading, scales and music theory are also practiced to improve overall musicianship. I also teach Jazz theory to advanced students. Rate is $50/hour.
