Milos Misa Krstic

Pianist Misa Milos Krstic (1947) was essentially self-taught on the instrument, although he took private piano lessons. As 11 years old boy, he began to collect and absorb only jazz records, and at sixteen he already played with much older musicians in "Eurydice" and "Z. Vračar". His first paid performance was as a student in a jazz club in Roly (S. Carolina) in 1967. Upon his return from the United States he refused to participate in show business structure and therefore was labeled as "room pianist." He graduated Agronomy first, then Composition at the Belgrade Music Academy, and finally received a Master's degree in jazz piano at Southern Illinois University, where he worked as an assistant in the bands and combos history. Krstic insists on purity of the jazz language and explicit knowledge of historical literature. Besides leading his trio and working with all active Yugoslavian jazz musicians, he played concerts and festivals abroad often answered calls over Zagreb: in Quartet Bill Hardman-Junior Cook, Teddy Edwards Quartet, with Lia Wright, tenor saxophonist Bill Saxton (1946), on tour in Belgium, organized by the Canadian government with the singer "Big" Miller, in U.S. in concerts with combos and guests tenorists Eddie Daniels (1941), Billy Pierce (1948), Willie Akins, in Havana with jazz trumpeter Bobby Carcasses etc.. In 1991. it’s published the first Serbian jazz CD ‘Bebop Piano’ of Mike Krstic (Ram Records). In addition to two solo CDs, Krstic has collaborated on more than thirty jazz records and CDs with local and international musicians. Besides contracting and composers work, Krstic was editor of the jazz show "Stereorama" on Radio Belgrade, and he was the author of the TV series "Monuments of the jazz tradition".
