”If you're a fan of high-grade vocal work with assured confidence, superb diction, sharp timing and a theatrical flair for the dramatictime to meet Adi Brauna jazz singer with a bold vocal delivery crammed with character(and) a signature versatile approach.” (Geoff Chapman, The Toronto Star)

Since the release of her critically-acclaimed debut CD, Delishious, Adi Braun has firmly established herself, both at home and abroad, as one of the Canada's brightest musical lights. A fresh, new arrival on the jazz scene, vocalist Adi Braun is no stranger to the stage with a string of cabaret, concert and theatre successes to her credit.

The daughter of professional singers, Adi grew up in Europe surrounded by music and musicians. Her early influences ran the gamut from Maria Callas to Barbra Streisand. She received her formal musical training in Europe and Canada, studying with Canada's most renowned vocalists and graduating from the University of Toronto's Faculty of Music.

In 1995, Adi co-founded the Toronto-based company, “Blue Rider Musical Productions”, presenting a series of cabaret style concerts to sold-out audiences. Through this vehicle she moved back to her first-love of jazz, capturing the instant attention of the jazz community, wowing audiences and critics alike with her sophisticated style and subtle delivery. Adi combines the nostalgia of yesteryear with the clarity of today, evoking such vocal and dramatic greats as Sarah Vaughan, Lotte Lenya, Judy Garland and Rosemary Clooney. Her repertoire ranges from the classic standards of the American Songbook to European Cabaret and contemporary gems by composers such as Canada's Shirley Eikhard. Whether she is singing in English, French, Spanish or German, Adi Braun is “a power-frau who gives jazz standards an unique touch, telling stories that are miniature life moments”. (Rheinische Post, Duesseldorf, Germany)

Adi has been described as “a singer with enormous talent and limitless imagination. She has a rich, warm voice that radiates with experience, clarity and emotion.” (Colin Smith, One Flight Up, CKLN. 88.1 FM) “Delishious is a sassy, show stopping, and foot tapping feast of tasty tunes served up in a fun, lively style” (Judy Matheson, Music Sebringville Newsletter).

Adi has been seen and heard on television and radio all across Canada, from Jurgen Gothe's “DiskDrive” and Ross Porter's “After Hours, to Katie Malloch's “Jazz Beat” and Toronto's JazzFM91. Delishious has made the Top Ten on jazz radio charts from coast to coast, has been featured on Air Canada's in-flight audio programming, and was chosen by Jurgen Gothe for his CBC DiskDrive “2003 hitlist”. She has appeared live in Canada, Germany and Italy, entertaining standing-room-only audiences in concert and at renowned clubs like Toronto's Top o' the Senator, the Montreal Bistro, the Rex Jazz and Blues Bar, Revival, and in Europe at Munich's “JazzClub Unterfahrt” and Florence's “Jazz Club Firenze”. Her musical accomplices have included such top-flight jazz musicians as Doug Riley, Ron Davis, Mark Eisenman, Dave Restivo, Steve Wallace, Terry Clarke, and Tony Quarrington. She continues to receive rave reviews each time she performs. Adi has appeared at the Downtown Toronto Jazz Festival and will be touring Ontario in the spring of 2004 and returning to Europe in the fall of 2004. In the summer of 2004, Adi will be featured at several festivals, including teaming up with jazz legend Gene DiNovi and friends to present the Ellington/Strayhorn Songbook at the Ottawa Chamber Festival and at the Parry Sound “Festival of Sound”.

As U.S. critic Jeff Rossen (Cabaret Scenes) declared, “these ears had never heard her alluring voice before, but you can be sure that they'll never forget it...a gifted artist delivering a knock-out set.”
