Born: April 15, 1960 Primary Instrument: Saxophone
I'm a sax, clarinet, and flute professional who has performed for over 20 years in the San Diego area and toured internationally with many different groups. Although I play all genres of music, I specialize in jazz, the greatest music. I earned a degree in music (jazz specialty) from the University of California in San Diego in 1983, and made the decision to go back to school recently. I will have earned a Master's degree in Jazz Studies from San Diego State University at the end of 2004, and will begin to share my love of this music with students at the university level in my role as a professor (I teach some courses at SDSU already). My band, the Chris Klich Jazz Quintet, regularly is voted the #1 jazz band in many local polls (particularly the San Diego Union Tribune, the San Diego Music Awards, and Barstar.com). In addition to performing 4 or 5 monthly gigs, I also teach privately. My personal life is filled with the joy of being married to the fabulous vocalist Laura Preble (http:laurapreble.com) and raising two wonderful sons, Austin (age 10 in 2003) and Noel (born Nov. 2002).
