Glenn Johnson

Born in Detroit, drummer and composer Glenn Johnson studied percussion with Allen G. Smith, and studied music at Cass Tech High School. After playing in assorted basements, garages, theaters, and jams, he joined with Dimitri Mugianis in 1977 to form Mr. Unique and the Leisure Suits (later Leisure Class).

At the Drummer's Collective in New York, he studied with Duduka Da Fonseca, Frank Malabe, Ricky Sebastian and Bob Weiner; and later studied privately with Joe Morello.

Glenn's compositions have been featured on WGPR TV and radio; “The Better Than Average Stupid Variety Show”, “Night Light TV”; the videos “Concrete”, “Live With a Bag of Cement”, “Arachnovision”, “Silent Voices”, and “Paul William Hodge”; and in the documentary film “I'm Dangerous With Love”.
