Jack Scott

I play jazz on the flute and alto flute...standards, latin, straight ahead. I most commonly work as a duet with guitar or piano, but can easily add bass and drums for a trio or quartet. As a rule I don’t use larger groups, but any size group can be arranged. In 1999 my trio was selected by Starbucks Coffee’s ad agency to perform as the Milder Dimensions Trio to promote their Milder Dimensions brands of coffee at various Chicago area events. My music tends to work best at events such as corporate receptions or dinners, trade shows, holiday parties, award ceremonies, weddings, etc. I have various demos, and in 2004, I recorded a flute / alto flute and percussion demo with drummer Paul Wertico which I have been shopping aroung the jazz business...and getting the right reactions from the right people. Classical players like it too. I have recorded with the folk duo Patchouli. As of July 2007, I am half of Duo Simpatico, with me on flutes and Steve Ramsdell on guitar. I also play 16th and early 17th century solo music on the lute, and I am a calligrapher and an archaeological illustrator.

About Duo Simpatico:

“What a sound: Scott's flute, airy but soulful, interwoven with Ramsdell's Spanish guitar, all dappled light and earth-tones. It's a sound that floats off the ground but below the trees, deceptively close and tantalizingly just out of reach.”

--Neil Tesser: Jazz Critic Playboy Magazine, columnist for Jazziz magazine, contributor to Jazz Times magazine.

“The delicious sound of the alto flute with the guitar is a perfect match for the quiet and moving interpretations and improvisations, particularly on the Latin pieces... I like it.”

--George Pope: Professor of Flute, University of Akron, Past president: National Flute Association.
