Federico Miranda was born in Costa Rica in 1976 and has been playing the guitar since the age of 12. In 1993 he founded the band Gandhi, a vocal rock group that has become one of the most popular acts in the country. Since 1997 the band Gandhi has released 3 albums independently, with BMG, and with Sony Music, and has appeared in various BMG and Sony compilations including 'Tributo a Soda Stereo' (BMG U.S. Latin 2001). Their songs have reached top positions on national radio and have been featured in several music channels, including MTV Latino, Ritmo Son Latino (Mexico), and CNN en Español. In 2000 they were awarded 3 ACAM awards for their album 'Páginas Perdidas' (BMG), including Record of the Year.

Gandhi has performed with international artists such as Aterciopelados (Colombia), La Ley (Chile), Jaguares (Mexico), America (U.S.), Zucchero (Italy), and Deep Purple (U.K.). The band has also toured extensively in Costa Rica and headlined the biggest rock festivals of the region. Gandhi is now promoting their fourth album, 'CICLOS', which was produced by Mexican musician Sabo Romo and is distributed by BMG.

Besides touring and recording with Gandhi, Federico Miranda has also been working and playing with his instrumental solo project and will soon begin recording his first instrumental solo album. His first appearance as a solo artist at the 2003 International Guitar Festival of Costa Rica, where he played his original compositions and an electric guitar version of the 'Concierto de Aranjuez' by Joaqu-n Rodrigo.

Federico Miranda studied with some of the best national musicians as is pianist Manuel Obregón, and in 1995 he traveled to Boston to attend Berklee College of Music. In 2003 he traveled to New York City to study with jazz guitarist Steve Khan. Miranda also holds a degree in Electrical Engineering and is a specialist in DSP and audio processing. He is a member of the Audio Engineering Society (AES) and the Latin Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (LARAS). Federico Miranda is endorsed by DiMarzio pickups.
