Romain Pilon grew up in France , and started to play guitar at 10 years old ,first fascinated by Angus Young : AC/DC lead guitarist. He studied with various private teachers in his hometown ,and entered the Jazz Conservatory of Chambery in 1997. After auditionning for the famous Berklee College of Music , he received a scholarship and decided to move to Boston for 4 years. There he received 3 awards and studied with world class musicians like Mick Goodrick , Hal Crook , Dave Santoro , Joe Lovano , Peter Bernstein...In 2002 he opened for Pat Metheny with his quartet ,representing the over 1000 students guitar department .At this period he also recorded Christian Scott ' first cd , featuring Walter Smith III. After receiving his degree in Jazz Perfomance he moved to New York where he played with musicians like Ferenc Nemeth , Lionel Loueke , Seamus Blake , Matt Brewer , Carlos Henriquez , Jerome Sabbagh , Albert Sanz , Rob Stillman, etc. Now living in Paris , Romain teaches jazz improvisation , composition and guitar privately.
