Primary Instrument: Trumpet
After joining the Irish Youth Jazz Orchestra in 1989, Linley cemented his contacts with the Dublin scene and a firm alliance with great friend Dermod Harland. He joined the Dermod Harland Quintet and as well as playing all the Irish jazz festivals, they did a spot on Radio 2’s Jazz Parade. At the same time Linley did some major broadcast work with the Dave Early Late Shift and a famous gig in the Thre’penny Bit with Jean Toussaint. This certainly established him in the Irish jazz scene, but it was at this time that he built alliances in the rock scene and began some serious touring.
Now Linley has a new band which he is very proud of, which features some of his best mates. John Wilson on drums (formerly with Rory Gallagher and Taste), Nicky Scott on bass (formerly with Van, Brian Kennedy, Juliet Turner, etc) and Joel McCullough on guitar - the absolute find of the century.
