Throughout his long-lived career, Johnny Knapp has accompanied such stars as Billie Holiday, Sally Kellerman, Barbra Streisand, and Tyne Daly. He has worked as a musical director of several feature films, including “Funny Girl.”

He teaches jazz vocals at City College of New York and jazz and jazz history at Fairleigh Dickinson University, and has been a private teacher and coach for more than 30 years. He has appeared on stage at the Newport Jazz Festival, New York Jazz Festival, Carnegie Hall, the Hollywood Bowl, and at private events for Walt Disney, the Rockefeller and Hearst families, and Ted Turner. He also has performed on several television shows including the Today show and programs hosted by Merv Griffin, Steve Allen, Joan Rivers, and Dinah Shore.
