eliane - singer, guitar player and composer
Eliane, singer, guitarist, composer and lyricist was born in Switzerland and moved to New York in 1998 to attend the New School University for Jazz and Contemporary music from which she graduated in 2000. Eversince she has been an active force in the New York City Brazilian, Jazz and Latin scene. Eliane performs in New Yorks most famous clubs such as Blue Note, Jazz Standard, Joes Pub, Nuyorican Poets Cafe, Cornelias Street Cafe, Cutting Room and Knitting Factory either as a band leader or as a featured artist.
The list continues with the citys hottest music clubs and lounges like Ace of Clubs, Carlitos Cafe e Galeria, Satalla, Barbes, Kavehaz, Caffe Vivaldi, Puppets, Cleopatras Needle, Acentos Poetry Club and Triad just to name a few. Among the trendiest restaurants and bars in town Eliane had steady appearences at Esperanto, Sushi Samba, Bed, Megu, Barmache, Caviar e Banana, Jules, Punch and so forth. Eliane and her band entertain as well numerous weddings, private and corporate parties for companies such as Time Warner Cable, Bvlgari, C.F. Bucherer, the Rose d'Or television award, Swiss Tourism, the Swiss Society, the Swiss Embassy, Conde Nast etc.
Eliane played in front of thousands of people at major events like the reopening of the Silverstein Building at the World Trade Center, alongside Lou Reed, Susan Vega, the Brazilian Girls and others, the Swiss American Film festival and the Swiss Peaks festival in New York and toured several times all over Switzerland, performed in Germany and France with musicians from America, Brazil, France, Italy, Switzerland and Germany.
She recorded or collaborated with greats such as Randy Brecker, Marc Ribot, Bill Ware, Jovino Santos Neto, Michael Carvin and Marcus Strickland and she continues to be a sought after artist by Producers like Eric Sanicola and Bryan Lurie and DJs like David Last.
At the moment she is part of several successful projects like Bill Ware’s Urban Vibes , Off Broadway musical Automatic Superstar and Bryan Lurie's Synacure.
Her own band consists of the best musicians the city has to offer like the two female bass players Jennifer Vincent and Hagar Ben Ari and the drummers Mathias Kunzli and Matt Kane.
Eliane also teaches music and and gives workshops, for example at the famous music weeks in Arosa, Switzerland every summer.
She has been intervied by countless news papers and Radio Stations like the Swiss National Radio DRS and the State of Wallis (Switzerland) biggest Radio Station Radio Rottu. Her original songs are being broadcast by radio stations aound the world and she appeared as a guest artist at a concert of Jovino Santos Neto that won a television award for best musical performance. Her song as if can be heard in the new movie Approaching Union Square by film maker Marc Meyers.
Eliane recorded two CDs of her own with her original Material and appeared on many other CD productions as a featured singer or guitarist.
