Bob Marbach

Bob was born in San Diego CA, and raised in Denver CO. He earned degrees in classical piano performance from Metropolitan State College of Denver and the University of Memphis.

While living in Memphis TN, was adjunct faculty at University of Memphis and Shelby State Community College, teaching jazz piano, improvisation and class piano.

Has performed with many great artists including Jimmy Witherspoon, Phineas Newborn Jr., James Williams, Bill Frisell, William Parker, Blue Mitchell, Bill Mobley, the Moody Blues, Smokey Robinson, the Shirelles and the Platters.

Bob has recorded with Alex Chilton, Stix Bones, Bill Mobley, Taro Fujita, Jimmy Herring, Joseph Patrick Moore, Tav Falco and Panther Burns.

Now located in New York City, Bob is currently teaching and performing with dance ensembles at the Alvin Ailey School, the Dance Theatre of Harlem, and performing and recording in and around New York City, as well as writing and producing several new projects.

Keyboardist Bob Marbach's debut EP release, Out At Night, is a trio set featuring Jon Mele on drums and Toshi Someya on bass. The program features four original compositions by Marbach along with a cover of Sonny Rollins' “Pent Up House. The album finds the trio locked in series of dark, soulful grooves.
