Matthew Zachary

Classically trained from the age of 11, Matthew Zachary was 21 and a senior in College majoring in Music when diagnosed with pediatric brain cancer. Aside from threatening his life, the tumor had severely compromised the use of his left hand.

Told he might never walk, let alone play piano again, Matthew refused to give up hope. He empowered himself to continue playing as best he could through both surgery and post-operative treatment. Against all odds and advice, Matthew returned to school that same semester and graduated on time magna cum laude.

Nearing eight years later, Matthew has beaten the odds. He is with us tonight to share his experiences, along with the music inspired by those experiences
