Louise Cuming's tone is characterised as a distinctive gentle rasp that floats between a drawl, a yodel and a cat sneezing. Her subtle music is beautiful and embracing as it is stark and slippery. Cuming chronicles the unseen surburbia- comings and goings, dreams and disappointments - like a great impressionist working with shadows instead of light. And remains just as elusive, just as profound. The Age 2006

Louise Cuming's trombone playing driftscapes to, in some cases, jagged passages of music; a storm warning, perhaps, the calm before some unnamed calamity. Her free jazz/traditional dixieland/austrian folk influenced compositions delve into loss and despair with the barest of nuance. Louise is certainly a shining light at the end of that very long, barely listenable genre/tunnel of Oktober Fest/Free Jazz music... The Herald Sun 2005
