Noah Peterson

I did band in public schools (Billings, MT) and enlisted in the Marines as a saxophonist in 1991. I attend the Armed Forces School of Music and served in the Marine Field Band at 29 Palms, CA. This was a fun, bizarre and totally surreal experience. I moved to Portland, OR in 1994 and studied music at a small college. I started my own band which eventually was named Miles Ahead - lasted eight years, released 2 albums (Milepost 1 and Live at the Zebra) which received limited international airplay. We worked all over Portland and toured in Oregon, Washington, Montana, Wyoming, Utah and Colorado. In the last year of Miles Ahead I started the Noah Peterson Quartet and released my first solo album in January 2004. In my time in Portland I've played in folk, funk, jazz, blues, African, zydeco, cover, classical, pit, art ensembles, world beat and rock bands playing as a sideman, band leader, section leader composing, arranging and recording. I've had various musical projects having all sorts of muscial adventures. I have an Acid Jazz/jazztronica release called “Bump” and a zydeco CD called “Sugar Skulls” with Voodoo Mountain Zydeco. Come see a show and I'll tell you some stories! I've got lots of new CD's out and am always on the musical move!
