Bálint Hrecska was born in Budapest, on 12 August, 1981. Music had interested him from a very early age and so, his parents enrolled him to a musical primary and middle school where he met up with his first and really important impacts.
After middle school came a few years of side tracking from these studies, but his interest towards music stayed constant, more over grew a great deal. In 2000, just before his high school graduation, he got his very first bass guitar.
At this time he was mostly into the progressive rock groups of the 70’s, but he soon came to meet Jaco Pastorius’ works ” so, his first band in his life - called EBI -, which he had formed with friends Egon Kemény (guitar) and István Szórádi (drums) had already a strong tending towards fusion music. This band hadn’t lasted long, but this short time was already enough for his first compositions to be born.
In 2004 he had won admission to the Köbányai Zenei Stúdió’s (Music Studio of Köbánya, Budapest) bass guitar faculty, where Viktor Hárs, Egon Póka, later Béla Lattmann became his teachers. He finished in 2007, when right after he won admission to the 4. year, which would give him a higher level qualification.
He formed his next band, the Howdy!Quartet in 2005, where drummer Tamás Németh and himself jointly tended the group head/music composing tasks. EarRadiance, his now existing power-trio which plays Tamás’ and his very own compositions was born from this former formation.
In the same year he joined Tettamanti Téma, quartet of Tamás Tettamanti (trumpeter). With this group he had played in many foreign places, such as Tunnel Vienna Live ” Austria; EuropaFEST ” Bucharest (the group reached a semifinalist placing at the jazz competition), and in 2007 they have also been members of the Tornalja Jazz Festival in Slovakia.
He was a founder of Anna Eszter Maitinsky’s first group, the Jazz Mappers, wich formation gave birth to the now existing MAE.
Since 2007 he is a member of FredEszter Quartet, and also takes part in many intermittent formations, such as Shamal, J-Squad, Madács Quartet ” which plays regularly at Gastroblues Festival Paks since 2006 -, Steve Black Band, GodShot or the Koszi Janka Quartet.
Through the years he has played on the side of great artists such as János Nagy (piano), Gábor Winand (vocal, saxophone), István Fekete (trumpet, saxophone, vocal) Jimmy Weinstein (drums), Lilli Santon (vocal), Alex Harding (baritone saxophone), Jazzékiel, Gábor Szalay (guitar), Ferenc Muck (saxophone), Grego (piano) and Gyula Horváth (violin).
