Primary Instrument: Lyricist
A composer, radiologist, Washington University educator, collector of antique musical instruments and beach sand, Al Hammerman is a modern day Renaissance man who is never bored and rarely at a loss for inspiration.
Although a composer for many years, only recently has Al Hammerman\'s music become accessible to the general public. On faculty at Washington University, Hammerman has worked on projects with the performing arts department as well as lent assistance to area theater groups and one Off Broadway musical theater production. He even did a short free lance advertising stint as a jingle writer.
Called both contemporary and classic, many of Hammerman\'s songs are reminiscent of a style once thought forgotten; songs whose charming melodies and clever lyrics quickly capture the heart and imagination of the listener; songs meant to be remembered and endure.
All of Al\'s St. Louis area music efforts have gone towards raising funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Missouri. A relationship that \all started with a song\ and that has allowed him to gain a much greater meaning and pleasure from his musical endeavors.
