Taeko, born and raised on the outskirts of Kyoto, Japan, was inspired by her father's and grandfather's traditional Japanese music and has been singing as long as she can remember. In 1998, Taeko came to New York City with dreams of expanding her singing career and took a strong liking to Jazz. The intense jazz study, coupled with her naturally appealing voice and musical ideas, have earned her performances in some of New York City's best known Jazz and R&B clubs, including Blue Note, Ashford & Simpson's Sugar Bar, Lenox Lounge, and Zinc Bar. Her musical talent is also bought to Japan every spring and fall. Taeko performs with great jazz giants today such as Onaje Allan Gumb, Harry Whitaker, George Colligan, Kenny Davis, Dwayne Burno, Jim Cammack, Marcus McLaurine, Essiet Essiet, Vic Juris, Yoshiaki Masuo, to name a few. Taeko's most recent CD One Love is to be released from Flat Nine Records, Inc. in fall 2007.

Taeko is an amazing and exiting songbird from Japan with a great command of her clean voice and keen musicianship. She is one of the best of her generation.
