Nene

The drummer, composer and arranger Realcino Lima Filho, Nenê, was born in Porto Alegre. The self-taught musician is known as one of the best Brazilian drummers, ever.

Nenê joined some of the most important Brazilian jazz groups (Egberto Gismonti, Hermeto Pascoal, Steve Lacy Quartet, The Jazz Band of Denmark, Stan Getz, Paulo Moura, Quarteto Novo, Trio a Pampa, Pau Brasil, etc.) and played with their side in Jazz Festivals, jazz clubs and theaters, in Brazil and all over the world. He also joined the bands of the famous singers, such as: Milton Nascimento, Elis Regina, Gal Costa, Maria Bethânia, Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Claude Nougaro (French singer and composer) Dick Farney and Ângela Maria, among others.

Nenê lived and played in France for 12 years. He led workshops and presented his method “Brazilian Rhythms by Nenê” in Denmark, France, Germany, Switzerland and in Brazil. The creative musician used polyrhythmic elements to adapt certain traditional Brazilian rhythms. His importance lies not only in this change on the concept of rhythms but also in the construction of compositions with more sophisticated melodies and harmonies.

Nowadays, he plays with his own trio, with Alberto Luccas on contrabass and Irio Jr. on the piano. Playing with young musicians is a need for the experienced musician, who studies regularly and produces high quality music, which results in an excellent reaction of his audiences. The repertory of the trio of Nenê is authorial.

In 2004 they joined a Brazilian national project called Pixinguinha and played in Campinas, Palmas, Campo Grande, Porto Velho, Rio Branco and also in Paris/France (the Brazilian year in France). The trio made many presentations related to the release of the Cd Ogã, between 2005 and 2006, at Rede SESC (best theatres in Brazil). In 2006 they played in the 1st Amazon Jazz Festival (Manaus, Amazonas) and in the Festival de Música de Itajai, (Santa Catarina). The trio also made a very successful presentation in Museu da Casa Brasileira (in São Paulo). They will soon begin a national excursion called the “Nenê Trio - the Brazilian music of the twenty first century.

His greatest ambition is to play with his trio in different venues around the world.
