Closing the College Division competition was a special performance from the Prague Conservatory of Music Jazz Band from the Czech Republic, which confounded and dazzled the crowd with its genre-smashing and style-hopping performance of all original music from band director Milan Svoboda--and the crowd demanded three encores! http://www.montereyjazzfestival.org/2008/media/040908.php
eJazzNews - Toronto, Ontario, Canada (15.4.2008):
Special Guest Performance / Prague Conservatory Big Band from Czech Republic: I had the pleasure of experiencing The Milan Svoboda Prague Big Band during the concluding performance of the Next Generation Festival on Sunday April 6th @ 4:00P.M. presented upstairs in the Steinbeck Forum. I predict Milan Svoboda's star is ascending this year and his name is about to become familar to many more jazz fanatics. If his performance as Big Band leader last weekend was any indication, he is a superstar just waiting for enough exposure to be discovered by a much wider audience....... The full house attending this performance showed their respect by honoring this mad-man-genius a standing ovation after EACH of his three original compositions! ...... http://www.ejazznews.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=9344&mode=thread&order=0&thold=0
