Ed. Shaw, Jr. (EJ)

Edward E. Shaw, Jr., AKA “EJ”, is a native of Far Rockaway; Queens, N.Y. Edward comes from a family of musicians. His father is a progressive bass player and his mother was a percussionist. At the age of 8, Edward acquired the ability to play drums. His god-giving talent was able to flourish during his tenure at his home church, Community Church of God in Christ in NY. After moving to Richmond, VA, with his family, Edward began developing the talent to play the piano. With prayer and untiring practice, he gained the skill to play the organ. It wasn’t long before he was picking up another instrument to venture, the bass guitar. Edward has played for countless bands, choirs, ensembles, and soloists. He has performed/ recorded music with the GMWA Richmond Chapter, Daryl Coley, Sylvester Starks & Bayside High, Bill McGee, Plunky & Oneness, Lamont & LaMark Fleming (Chris Brown), Julia Candia & the Candia Singers, VCU’s Black Awakening Choir, VSU’s Gospel Choir. UVA’s Black Voices Choir, Psalms of Vision, and various groups throughout the state of Virginia and abroad.
